Marine Awareness while on vacation!

By Abbie Hine, 18th April 2013

The SOSF partnership with the Kempinski Seychelles Resort had gone from strength to strength. As part of our marine awareness and education program, we have been offering guests at the Kempinski Seychelles Resort the opportunity to experience a guided snorkel with a marine educator. With a marine expert by their side it gives them the chance to snorkel and learn about the amazing coral reef environment that the Seychelles has to offer. Attendance has been high and the feedback positive from all the guests, some have even stayed for the second snorkel session! We have had some fantastic snorkels right in front of the hotel, with plenty of marine life and megafauna! So far we have been lucky enough to see Hawksbill turtles, white tip reef sharks, black tip reef sharks, moray eels, Humphead wrasse loads of parrotfish and most guests favourite – the lionfish!

In addition to these snorkel sessions we have been continuing the marine life talks at the hotel. Topics covered have varied from Turtles, Coral and Coral Reefs, The Importance of the Oceans, and everyone’s favourite – Sharks!! Many guests have attended and we hope through these presentations we can share the importance of helping to protect the marine environment.
