Very good news for sawfishes conservation.
I’d been in Guinea-Bissau for 10 days, for a training session with observers and I went to the North, in Rio Cacheu areas and after to the south, in Rio Cacine areas. It was so amazing to meet fishermen, talking better than scientists about sawfishes biology. And, the most important, they confirm the presence of this endangered specie. Both in north and south, fishermen have mentioned recent by-catches.
I’m now in Dakar for the PRCM meeting and I hope to convince other sub-region partners to be involved in this SawFish Alert Network.
