Manta Week at the SEA LIFE London Aquarium

By Guy Stevens, 12th March 2012

The SEA LIFE London Aquarium has teamed up with the Manta Trust and the Maldivian Manta Ray Project to celebrate all things MANTA to raise money and awareness during Manta Week from the 24th March – 1st April 2012.

The SEA LIFE London Aquarium is one of London’s top attractions and with the help of the Manta Trust and team members past and present from the Maldivian Manta Ray Project it will be celebrating mantas for a whole week! Manta Week is all about raising awareness of the threats facing manta ray populations worldwide like the gill-raker trade and by-catch in these species, but with emphasis firmly on family friendly entertainment.

We’ll have loads of manta activities going on at this fantastic location. Guests are invited to get creative at the manta table where there will be colouring-in, competitions, origami, quizzes and lots of learning to be done. What’s more, we are excited to invite visitors to the aquarium to name some of the Maldivian Manta Ray Project’s newly discovered mantas of 2011 in exchange for a small donation to the Manta Trust.

We’re also planning some special events and talks and will have more news to follow soon!

Children who come in fancy dress as a manta ray or any other creature that lives under the sea get in for just £5*, with the money going to the Manta Trust to help us carry out research, raise awareness and provide education, influence and action to conserve manta rays and their habitat.

Keep an eye on the London Aquarium’s website and our facebook page for more news on all the exciting things we have planned… See you there!

*£5 entry offer applies for children in marine animal fancy dress aged 3-15 (children under 3 go free). Offer applies for walk-up tickets only and is not valid for internet bookings or tickets purchased from other outlets.
