Kirsten grew up in Somerset West, near Cape Town. After matriculating, she spent a gap year with the International Academy for Leadership through Adventure. It was during this course that she discovered the joy of cooking, which led her to undertake a diploma in culinary arts. Keen to explore her passion for people, she was then employed as a support worker for Voyage Care in the UK, caring for and helping those who need an extra hand.
In 2023, Kirsten decided to move back to South Africa and take a job where she can put her culinary skills and kitchen knowledge to good use. She now provides healthy and nutritious meals and snacks for school groups visiting the Save Our Seas Foundation Shark Education Centre to enjoy during lunch breaks.
Since joining the Shark Education Centre, Kirsten has discovered her love for the ocean. She cares deeply about the environment and wants to protect it and keep it in good condition for the benefit of future generations.
