Lucky enough to grow up surrounded by beautiful mountains and beaches, as a child and teenager Belinda spent most of her time outdoors. After matriculating, she was offered an exciting opportunity to accompany a family member overseas, where she worked and travelled extensively. This life experience opened her mind to the many different cultures and customs that the world has to offer and shaped her into the person she is. It also created the path she wanted to take, both personally and professionally.

A degree in psychology and education marked the beginning of her career as an educator and in roles that provide individualised support, strategies and tools to students and young adults. After dedicating many years to working with children in schools around Cape Town and within the education system – and as a mother herself – she was ready to embark on a new chapter. When the opportunity arose to join the team at Save Our Seas Foundation Shark Education Centre, she seized the chance to combine her experience, skill set and passion for working with interpersonal relationships, an emphasis on fostering social connections among employees, her avid interest in nature and the sea, and an ethos that best suits her lifestyle.
