Description

The mission of the Museum of Discovery and Science (MODS) in Fort Lauderdale, USA, is connecting people with inspiring science. MODS is guided by four educational Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) pillars, one of which is environmental sustainability. Its exciting interactive exhibits introduce visitors to the wonders of the natural environment, as do programmes that include a 20-seat Everglades Airboat Adventure simulator and an immersive series about Florida habitats. Encounters with more than 500 animal ambassadors, a Sprouting STEM Early Childhood Learning Lab for young scientists and a Distinguished Speaker Series, sponsored by the Save Our Seas Foundation (SOSF), also draw people into the world of natural science. Serving as south Florida’s dynamic hub for dialogue and innovation with regard to resilience and community solutions to the impact of climate change, the Museum also hosts the annual Broward Youth Climate Summit. As a trusted resource for science for more than 40 years, the Museum’s vision for resilience is to improve environmental literacy, stimulate workforce development and empower the community through environmental stewardship and solutions.
