The institution has established a global reputation for providing scientifically robust, unbiased information, vital for the protection of marine life and sustainable use of marine resources. It has been delivering high profile, innovative outreach activities for more than 120 years, locally and internationally. The MBA is committed to supporting career development & developing understanding of marine biology in young people by developing our YMB and student membership categories, which is now 800+ members strong with members from around the world. As a marine research organisation, it has a fundamental appreciation of the need for sound science to underpin global conservation efforts. As such, a core focus of the organisation has been on their ‘Young Marine Biologist’ and Student Members. The goal of these membership categories is to inspire and enable younger generations to pursue continued learning / careers in marine biology and conservation. By providing opportunities such as the YMB Summit, the MBA provides unique access and insight into the world of marine research specifically aimed at this audience.
