Rescue me!

12th March 2009

A quick  update from ‘edge of the map’. We had better luck with the hammerheads today. Once the first shark turned up, and was suitably relaxed and comfortable with the presence of the boat, we started kitting up.

Myself and Tom decided to take turns in the water today, to better our chances of having decent, closer encounters with the sharks. I had the prime shooting spot on our first day with the hammerheads, so today Tom had the first hour with the shark, and once he was done I would hop in.

Sometimes Tom comes out of the water grinning from ear to ear; this is when you know he’s captured something really special. Today was one of those days.

As soon as Tom was out of the water, I jumped in to start filming the hammerhead. When i’d finished my dive, I went to see Tom and have a look at his hammerhead images. When I saw his face I knew something was wrong; his expression had changed from a grin to, well, the one you can see in the picture.

Somehow his memory card had become corrupted, and he couldn’t view the images! We know the images are still safe, we just need to download an application when we get back to shore that will rescue them off the card.

Still, pretty annoying through!
