Incredible news! All sharks, mobula rays and the reef manta have been successfully adopted under the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species! The announcement was made at 12:33 pm in Quito, Ecuador.
This is a massive, game-changing moment for shark and mobulid conservation. We’d like to thank all the NGOs and IGOs that worked with us and supported us in the build up to this monumental day. We’d also like to thank Fiji for their tireless support of mobulid conservation and for putting the mobula and reef manta proposals forward for consideration at CMS.
Over the coming days we’ll be sure to post up more info on what happens next, and how this new legislation will be translated into action.
