Elle grew up in Plettenberg Bay, South Africa, exploring trails and spending most of her time on the water. Then, when she turned 16, she was introduced to scuba diving and this lit a fire in her that has never gone out. Nothing was more peaceful and simultaneously invigorating than experiencing the underwater world.

Her studies took her to Cape Town, where she earned her Bachelor of Communications, specialising in multimedia design. Further specialisation took her into film, and the abundance of opportunities in Cape Town enabled her to become involved in amateur underwater filming and content creation. All the while, the projects she undertook came back to one thing: her determination to protect the ocean she loves.

When Elle was invited to provide field assistance on Réunion Island for a biologist friend who was studying marine predators, the travel bug bit hard. Soon afterwards she moved to Asia and there discovered a love for teaching and education. Throughout her eight years in Vietnam, she dived at every island she could reach and wove conservation lessons into every moment she had with her students.

Elle hopes her tenacious curiosity and varied skill set will contribute to furthering the positive impact the foundation has already achieved.
