Marine Explorers

Working with children from informal settlements close to Cape Town’s False Bay coastline, this initiative introduces participants to the wonders of the sea through surfing and snorkelling in the relatively warm and sheltered waters near the Shark Education Centre. The programme aims to foster a love and respect for the ocean and to sensitise those involved to the importance of healthy oceans. In addition to providing a fun, safe and healthy after-school activity for the children, these recreational activities give them the perfect space for lessons and informal discussions about the fascinating marine life they encounter.
