Shark Log 4 June 2011

5th June 2011

The sharks remained slow today with only one 3.5 metre male who behaved exactly like the one shark we had yesterday. It made 3 passes and then disappeared. However, we did observe 5 predation attempts with a spectacular lunge at seals crossing the launch pad. On the way home we encountered a pod of roughly 500 common dolphins, they are such charismatic creatures. We were also lucky to see a Royal Tern (Thalasseus maximus) fly past the boat. Hopefully tomorrow will bring more success with the sharks, but all in all a very enjoyable experience today with the other inhabitants of False Bay.
