Enterprising Youngsters

12th September 2011

Luca Bazzea, a grade 5 learner, together with Jarryd Meyer, submitted a business plan to the Mzansi Magic Market Day for youngsters and his entry was selected as being worthy of a stand at the Canal Walk Shopping Centre in Cape Town, on Saturday 3 September. They were given a special mention at the end of the event.

Luca, who has always been keenly interested in the environment and conservation, decided on producing and marketing sailing boats made from recycled materials and donating a percentage of the profit to the Shark Centre at Kalk Bay.

Although he had never before visited the Centre it was our conservation work that attracted him to it and his first visit was to ask if he could have some of our pamphlets and other bits and pieces for his table and to ask if we would accept a donation.

With youngsters like these, showing at an early age, the ability and wish to marry conservation and business, there is hope for the future.
