The Save Our Seas Foundation was privileged to give a talk to a group of students at Westerford High School recently on the plight of sharks, and the oceans in general. Paul Millar, marine educator at the Save Our Seas Shark Centre in Kalk Bay, addressed the Animal Rights Advocates (ARA) interest group during lunch break and spoke on the need for conservation of apex predators, like sharks, in order to maintain healthy oceans.
Driven by the need to conserve ecosystems in the ocean, the Save Our Seas Shark Centre is embarking on a programme to provide environmental education resources, like books, to schools where they can make a difference. This new initiative will be especially geared towards disadvantaged schools.
