Today, millions of committed individuals and households worldwide will celebrate Earth Hour<\/strong>!<\/p>\n

Switching off the lights for Earth Hour means showing your commitment to the planet. Turning off the lights also means turning up the fun in new and exciting ways. Consider the lights-out hour as an opportunity to enjoy quality time with family and friends and celebrate your role in this global movement.<\/p>\n

If you’re unsure how to spend your Saturday evening on the 26th of March<\/strong>, look no further! After switching off your lights, here’s how you can spend the Hour with your friends, family, and community – whether at home, outside, online, or in person – to make it an impactful evening to remember.<\/p>\n

Spend time connecting with nature.\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Have you considered stargazing? We understand that it might be unrealistic to take a hike or go for a swim at the beach at 8.30 pm, but there are other things you can do to spend time in nature. Venture outside, find an open spot near your home and see how many constellations you can spot in the night sky. If you are lucky, you might even be able to glimpse at a shooting star.<\/p>\n

Create your masterpiece. Make art in the dark.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Unleash your inner artist and use Earth Hour to try your hand at creating in the dark. From painting your friend’s face as their favourite animal to drawing images of the wildlife and nature you love. You can even try painting with glow in the dark paint<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Another great thing to try is “light painting” – we recommend a tripod and a slow shutter speed! Check out how to do this here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Host a dinner party for family and friends.\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Invite over those close to you for a candle-lit dinner and cook up some planet-friendly dishes. Be inspired to cook a sustainable meal with these recipes<\/a> from the WWF and encourage everyone to take home leftovers to reduce food waste. Remember to try and get all cooking done before 8:30 pm.<\/p>\n

Stay in and spend quality time with those who matter most to you. Play board games, watch a movie, listen to music, sing karaoke, or dance the night away. You can even read together in the candlelight if you have young kids.<\/p>\n
