The outing started with an introductory talk by Paul Millar, Educator at the Shark Centre, about False Bay\u2019s rocky shore ecology, sharks and their importance in the food chain.<\/p>\n<p>The group then walked across the road to Dalebrook Beach to see first hand some of the rock pool creatures (and their special adaptations) that Paul had discussed in the presentation. Both the adults and children were particularly excited to explore the myriad of little rock pools \u2013 finding Limpets, Barnacles, Star Fish, Sea Anemones, a shark egg, Chitons, remains of a Cuttlefish and many small fish.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_8447\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" style=\"width: 630px\"><a href=\"https:\/\/saveourseas.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/imported\/SaveOurSeas_26Jan2013_2.jpg\" class=\"fresco\" data-fresco-caption=\"\" data-fresco-options=\"thumbnails:false\" ><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/saveourseas.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/imported\/SaveOurSeas_26Jan2013_2.jpg\" alt=\"rock pool at dalebrook beach\" width=\"630\" height=\"417\" class=\"size-full wp-image-8447\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">rock pool at dalebrook beach<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The group returned to the Shark Centre for a relaxing lunch near the pool, followed by an intriguing look at the Shark Centre\u2019s small aquarium. After a short shark lesson, the group ended their marine outing by watching the movie \u2018Shark Riddle\u2019.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_8448\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" style=\"width: 630px\"><a href=\"https:\/\/saveourseas.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/imported\/SaveOurSeas_aquarium.JPG\" class=\"fresco\" data-fresco-caption=\"\" data-fresco-options=\"thumbnails:false\" ><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/saveourseas.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/imported\/SaveOurSeas_aquarium.JPG\" alt=\"sea anemone\" width=\"630\" height=\"417\" class=\"size-full wp-image-8448\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">sea anemone<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The Save Our Seas Shark Centre offers free educational marine outings, which can be arranged with Paul Millar (email <a href=\"mailto:p&#97;&#117;&#108;&#64;&#115;a&#118;e&#111;&#117;&#114;&#115;&#101;&#97;s&#46;&#99;&#111;m\/sos\" target=\"_blank\">&#112;&#97;&#117;&#108;&#64;s&#97;&#118;&#101;&#111;&#117;rse&#97;&#115;&#46;&#99;om\/sos<\/a> or phone 021 788 6694).<\/p>\n<p>The Save Our Seas Shark Centre is open daily to the general public, Monday-Friday from 10am to 4pm, and on Saturdays from 10am to 3pm during summer months.
